The old athletes’ village, now a planned estate

Newington was built as the athletes’ village for the 2000 Olympics and became one of Sydney’s first master-planned green estates — consistent streets of townhouses and low-rise apartments, wide footpaths, and easy off-street parking, right beside Sydney Olympic Park. The planned layout actually makes moves here straightforward: predictable access and parking, and from our Strathfield South base it’s a short, familiar trip. We still check for any Olympic Park event-day traffic nearby and plan around it.

Townhouses and low-rise apartments

Most Newington moves are townhouses or apartments in the low-rise blocks. We handle both — careful carries and internal-stair handling for the townhouses, and lift or stair access sorted ahead for the apartments. Moving to or from a neighbour like Homebush? The short local run keeps travel off your bill.

What a Newington move costs

Straightforward half-hourly pricing plus GST, with a minimum of 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out:

Day	Rate (2 movers + truck)
Monday – Friday	$68 + GST per half hour
Saturday – Sunday	$78 + GST per half hour

That’s for two movers and a fully equipped truck. Multi-level townhouses with internal stairs, or a booked apartment lift, can affect timing — we plan for it and give a clear estimate up front. Items over 100kg may need a third mover at an extra $50/hr + GST.
