Sydney Removalists — Affordable, Reliable Local Moves Across Greater Sydney
Transparent hourly pricing. No hidden fees. Real people who pick up the phone.
Finding a removalist you can actually trust in Sydney is harder than it should be. Quotes that balloon on the day, trucks that show up late, movers who aren’t careful — it’s one of the most complained-about service categories in the country. Move Masters Removalists was built to fix that. We give you a real, honest quote upfront, show up when we say we will, and handle your belongings like they matter — because they do. We operate across all of Greater Sydney: inner city, eastern suburbs, north shore, western Sydney, northern beaches, and the Shire. Local moves, apartment moves, end-of-lease, student moves, same-day bookings.
Transparent Pricing — No Surprises, No Hidden Fees
We charge per half hour, with an honest structure you can plan around. Here’s exactly how it works. For a full breakdown of hourly rates and what a typical move costs, see our guide to removalist costs in Sydney.

Minimum Booking & Deposit
Every local move has a minimum of 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out. The deposit is $200, and it comes off your final bill. If your move finishes within the minimum, the balance of the minimum charge is payable on completion. The balance is payable when the job is done.
There are no surprise charges beyond the rates above. If we see something that might affect the price before we start — a tricky access issue, an item that needs an extra pair of hands — we’ll tell you first.

Local Removalists Across Greater Sydney — Every Region, Every Suburb
We operate across all of Greater Sydney. Whether you’re moving within your suburb, across the city, or to the outer metro — we cover it. Our most active regions are listed below. Don’t see yours? Call us — if it’s within Sydney, we almost certainly cover it.
Inner West Sydney Removalists
Suburbs include: Newtown, Marrickville, Leichhardt, Annandale, Balmain, Rozelle, Enmore, Petersham, Glebe, Summer Hill, Stanmore, Dulwich Hill, Sydenham, Tempe
The Inner West is our busiest territory — and for good reason. It’s Sydney’s most transient rental market: high apartment density, short-tenure leases, constant turnover, and a high proportion of young professionals and students who move every 1–2 years. We know the area’s quirks: steep streets in Balmain, narrow access in parts of Newtown, buildings in Marrickville with no lift and tight stairwells. We factor these in upfront, not on the day.
Eastern Suburbs Removalists
Suburbs include: Bondi, Bondi Junction, Double Bay, Surry Hills, Paddington, Woollahra, Randwick, Coogee, Bronte, Clovelly, Maroubra, Kingsford, Kensington
The Eastern Suburbs runs the full range — compact apartments in Bondi through to large terrace homes in Paddington and Woollahra. It’s a high-care market: customers here expect professionalism, punctuality, and careful handling. We deliver all three. We regularly move in beach-adjacent buildings with permit parking requirements and narrow access lanes — we plan for this ahead of the job.
North Shore Removalists
Suburbs include: North Sydney, Crows Nest, St Leonards, Chatswood, Neutral Bay, Kirribilli, Mosman, Cremorne, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Wahroonga, Pymble, Killara
The North Shore covers everything from high-rise apartment buildings around North Sydney and Chatswood to established family homes in the upper north shore. We move in the area regularly — including high-rise buildings that require a goods lift booking, and period homes in Mosman and Neutral Bay with access considerations. Families upgrading homes and professionals relocating from apartments are our most common North Shore customers.
Northern Beaches Removalists
Suburbs include: Manly, Dee Why, Brookvale, Freshwater, Curl Curl, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, Avalon, Newport, Palm Beach, Frenchs Forest, Terrey Hills
The Northern Beaches is geographically separated from the rest of Sydney, which means most moves here are either within the peninsula or connecting to it from somewhere else in the city. We service both directions. The Beaches has a strong rental market alongside owner-occupiers — apartments in Manly and Dee Why, houses through Freshwater and Narrabeen, and larger properties further north through Newport and Avalon.
Parramatta & Western Sydney Removalists
Suburbs include: Parramatta, Westmead, Auburn, Granville, Merrylands, Guildford, Fairfield, Blacktown, Penrith, Seven Hills, Toongabbie, Hills District
Western Sydney has the fastest-growing apartment market in the city, with major development corridors around Parramatta, Westmead, and Penrith. It’s also home to a high proportion of first-time movers and families. We cover the full western and northwestern belt — from the Parramatta CBD apartment towers to family homes in Penrith, Blacktown, and the Hills District.
South Sydney & Sutherland Shire Removalists
Suburbs include: Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Brighton-Le-Sands, Cronulla, Sutherland, Miranda, Engadine, Caringbah, Gymea, Kirrawee, Banksia, Arncliffe
South Sydney and the Sutherland Shire is a mix of established housing stock and newer apartment developments near the train lines through Hurstville and Rockdale. The Shire itself is a lifestyle area with a strong owner-occupier market. We move frequently between South Sydney and the Shire — and between South Sydney and the Inner West or CBD for renters relocating across the city.
Canterbury-Bankstown & Strathfield
Suburbs include: Bankstown, Lakemba, Campsie, Burwood, Strathfield, Ashfield, Croydon, Canterbury, Punchbowl, Greenacre, Wiley Park
The Canterbury-Bankstown corridor is one of Sydney’s busiest rental regions — high population density, a wide mix of apartments and houses, and a diverse community we’re proud to serve. Strathfield and Burwood are our home territory — we know this area extremely well and move here constantly.
What Kind of Move Are You Making?
Apartment & Unit Moves
Apartment moves are our bread and butter. We know Sydney’s buildings — lift access, time-slot restrictions enforced by body corporates, strata rules around elevator padding and truck parking. We handle all of this as a matter of course. If your building requires a lift booking, do it early — we’ll advise on timing when you enquire.
End-of-Lease Moves
Moving out at the end of a lease is one of the most time-pressured, stress-heavy move scenarios there is. You have a hard-out date, a rental inspection scheduled, and a new place to get into. We do this constantly. Fast, clean, efficient — we’ll get you out in your window, your belongings safe, and your bond inspection-ready.
House Moves
Family homes, multi-room houses, established properties with furniture accumulated over years — we plan these more carefully than an apartment move. Large and heavy items (outdoor furniture, ride-on mowers, three-piece lounge suites, beds, bookshelves) are inventoried upfront so we bring the right crew and equipment.
Student & Single-Room Moves
Moving just one room? That’s fine — there’s no minimum job size, just a minimum billing of 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out. A single-room student move or studio apartment is a small job done well, not a job we’ll deprioritise because it’s small. You’ll get the same responsive service as any other booking.
Same-Day & Last-Minute Moves
Sometimes plans change fast. An unexpected lease end, a property exchange brought forward, a situation that just needs to be resolved today. We keep capacity for urgent bookings where we can. Call us directly for same-day availability — don’t rely on a web form when you need a fast answer.
Intra-Suburb Moves (Moving Around the Corner)
Short-distance moves between nearby streets or suburbs are often thought to be easy. They’re not — you still need a truck, you still need to protect your furniture, and the time is still billable. But they do tend to be our fastest local moves. If you’re moving within the same suburb or to a neighbouring one, let us know and we’ll price it honestly.
Why Sydney Customers Choose Move Masters Removalists
Clear pricing before you commit
We tell you the hourly rate, the minimum hours, and what affects the final price — before you hand over a deposit. No bait-and-switch rates. No charge for items you didn’t know were billable. You understand the price structure, you agree to it, then we start.
We show up when we say we will
Late arrival is the single most common complaint against Sydney removalists. We take it seriously. You’ll get a confirmed arrival window, and if something changes, you’ll hear from us — not find out by waiting.
Responsive from first contact
We quote within the hour during business hours. You deal with a real person who knows the job — not an automated reply or a third-party booking portal. Fast, direct, human.
Furniture is treated as furniture, not cargo
Moving blankets on every large piece. Trolleys that don’t drag floors. Careful corners. We don’t rush in ways that damage things. The small things — propping doors, protecting floor edges, wrapping TVs properly — are standard, not extras.
Proper insurance, registered business
Move Masters Removalists Pty Ltd is a registered Australian company, ACN 681 706 061. Every job carries public liability insurance and standard goods-in-transit cover. You’re not handing your belongings to a cash-in-hand operator with no accountability.
How a Move Masters Removalists Local Move Works
1. Get a Quote
Call or submit a quote request. We’ll ask your move date, pick-up and drop-off addresses, approximate inventory, any access details (stairs, lift, parking), and whether you need packing. You’ll have a quote back fast — usually within the hour.
2. Confirm & Pay Deposit
When you’re happy with the quote, pay the $200 deposit by PayID to secure your booking. The deposit is $200 and comes off your final bill. Your date and crew are locked in.
3. Before Move Day
We’ll confirm your arrival window by phone or message the day before. If you have a lift booking to sort with your building, do it at least a week out — we’ll remind you. Have your key items accessible on move morning.
4. Move Day
We arrive in your window, do a quick walkthrough with you to confirm the inventory and flag anything needing special handling. Then we get to work. Furniture is wrapped, loaded in order, and secured. You don’t need to lift anything.
5. Delivery & Final Payment
At the new place, we unload, place furniture where you want it, and reassemble anything we disassembled. You walk through with us to confirm everything’s in order. The balance is paid on completion.
Sydney Local Moves — Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a local move cost in Sydney?
Local moves are charged per half hour, with a minimum of 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out. Rates start from $68 + GST per half hour for a standard weekday move with two movers and a truck. Weekend moves (Saturday and Sunday, 7am–5pm) are $78 + GST per half hour. The total cost depends on how long your move takes, which depends on your home size, access at both ends, and how much packing is involved. We give you a realistic estimate when you enquire — not an artificially low number to win the job.
What’s included in the hourly rate?
The hourly rate covers two professional movers plus a fully-equipped truck — including moving blankets, trolleys, dollies, straps, and tie-downs. There’s no separate charge for equipment. Optional extras like packing services, box supplies, piano removals, and furniture assembly are quoted separately.
How does the deposit and travel time work?
The deposit is a flat $200 and comes off your final bill. The minimum is 2 hours of work plus a 30-minute travel call-out, so a 2-hour move is billed at 2.5 hours. If your move takes longer, the extra time is payable when the job finishes. You’ll never be charged more than the actual time worked plus travel.
Do you move on weekends?
Yes. We operate 7 days. Weekday moves are $68 + GST per half hour and weekend moves (Saturday and Sunday, 7am–5pm) are $78 + GST per half hour. Saturday and Sunday moves are popular — especially end-of-month and end-of-lease — so book ahead if your move falls on a weekend.
How do I know my apartment building’s lift booking requirements?
Check with your building manager or strata as early as possible. Most Sydney apartment buildings require a lift booking for moves, with a dedicated window (often 2–4 hours on a weekday or set weekend slots). Some require a moving bond. We’ll prompt you to do this when you book, and factor the lift window into our arrival scheduling.
Can you move items up stairs?
Yes. We move items up and down stairs regularly — including heavy furniture, washing machines, fridges, and sofas. Stairs are noted upfront and a stair surcharge applies per flight. Let us know what’s involved at both ends when you enquire so we can quote accurately.
What counts as a heavy item?
Heavy items are those over 100kg — typically pianos, gun safes, large commercial fridges, pool tables, and very large machinery. These require a third removalist at an additional hourly rate. Most household items (fridges, washing machines, lounge suites, large wardrobes) are handled by two movers with the right equipment.
Do you move pianos?
Yes. We move upright and grand pianos as a specialist service. Piano removals require dedicated handling, protective equipment, and in some cases specific rigging. We quote piano moves separately — mention it when you enquire so it’s included in your quote correctly.
What if my new place isn’t ready when the old one needs to be vacated?
This is more common than people think — delayed settlements, fit-out delays, lease overlap issues. We don’t offer permanent storage, but we can hold your belongings in the truck for a reasonable period on the same day if the gap is short. For longer gaps, we work with storage partners and can help arrange handoff. Let us know the situation when you book.
What’s your cancellation policy for local moves?
Cancellations 48 hours or more before your move receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours are half refundable. Cancellations within 24 hours of the move are non-refundable — the crew and truck are committed by then. Date changes with reasonable notice are usually accommodated at no charge.
