Affordable Removalists Sydney — Transparent Pricing, No Hidden Fees
From $68 + GST per half hour with two movers and a truck. You know the full price before we start.
Most Sydney removalists advertise a low hourly rate and make up the margin in fees you didn’t see coming — stair charges added without warning, travel time billed in ways you didn’t agree to, equipment levies that weren’t mentioned in the quote. Move Masters Removalists works differently. Our pricing is simple, stated upfront, and doesn’t change between the quote and the invoice. From $68 + GST per half hour on weekdays with two professional movers and a fully-equipped truck — no separate charge for blankets, trolleys, or travel time beyond what was quoted. Affordable doesn’t mean cutting corners. It means being honest about what things cost so you can plan properly and not get caught out on the day.
Exactly How We Price a Move — Nothing Hidden
Our pricing is built on one idea: you should know what a move costs before it starts, and the invoice should match the quote. For a full breakdown of what a move actually costs, see our guide to removalist costs in Sydney.
The hourly rate
We charge per half hour from the time we arrive at your pickup address to the time we finish unloading at your destination. The rate includes two professional movers and a fully-equipped truck. Nothing is added separately for equipment, blankets, straps, or trolleys — they are part of the service.
The minimum booking
Every local move has a minimum of 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out. This covers a realistic small move plus the travel time involved in any job. The $200 deposit you pay to confirm the booking comes off your final bill — and if your job finishes in less time, the minimum is what you pay, not the clock time.
Travel time — explained clearly
A flat 30-minute travel call-out is added to the 2-hour minimum. If your move takes 2 working hours or less, you pay the $374 weekday or $429 weekend minimum, less your deposit. If it takes longer, extra time is charged in half-hour increments and the balance is payable at the end. No surprise travel charges at the end of the day that you didn’t expect.
What costs more — and when we tell you
A small number of situations add to the base rate, and we disclose all of them before you confirm:
- Heavy items over 100kg: a third removalist at +$50/hr + GST
- Stairs: a per-flight surcharge disclosed during quoting
- Weekend and public holiday moves: the weekend rate applies (from $78 + GST per half hour)
That is the complete list. If it is not on this list, we do not charge for it.
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard move (Mon–Fri) | from $68 + GST per half hour |
| Weekend move (Sat–Sun) | from $78 + GST per half hour |
| Heavy items over 100kg | +$50/hr + GST |
| Minimum billing | 2 hours + 30-minute travel call-out |
What Actually Determines How Long a Move Takes — and What You Pay
Because we bill per half hour, the final cost comes down to how long the job takes. These are the factors that matter most.
Home size
A studio or one-bedroom apartment typically takes 2–3 hours of working time. A two-bedroom takes 3–5 hours. A three-bedroom home, 4–7 hours. A four-bedroom or large family home, 6–10 hours. We give you a realistic estimate when you enquire — not an optimistic one designed to get the booking.
Access at both properties
Lifts versus stairs. Long carry from parking to your front door. Buildings with restricted access windows. A ground-floor unit with direct driveway access will always be faster than a sixth-floor apartment with a 30-metre carry from the lift to the door. We factor access into our estimate upfront.
How ready you are on move day
The more packed and prepared you are when we arrive, the faster the job runs. Furniture that needs to be wrapped and moved — we handle. Drawers still full of loose items, bags scattered across rooms, boxes still being packed as we arrive — these add time and cost. We share packing tips when you book.
How to get the best price
Book weekdays over weekends. Mid-month over end-of-month. Start early in the morning — teams are fresh and traffic is lighter. Have everything packed before we arrive. And give us an accurate inventory when you enquire — an accurate quote means no surprises.
What You Get Regardless of Which Move You Book
There is no stripped-back budget option. Every move — large or small, weekday or weekend — includes the same standard of service and care.
- A fully-equipped truck sized to your move
- Moving blankets on every piece of furniture
- Furniture trolleys, appliance dollies, and straps
- Careful wrapping of large items through doorways
- Basic disassembly of flat-pack beds and simple wardrobes
- Floor and doorframe protection on request
- Standard goods-in-transit insurance
- Public liability insurance
There is no basic tier that removes any of the above. Every move gets the same standard of care regardless of size or price point.
Why We’re Affordable — Not Cheap

Cheap operators cut corners that cost you more later
The lowest-quoted removalist in Sydney often makes up the margin through damage claims denied on technicalities, add-on fees during the job, or simply not caring about your property. A scratched floor, a damaged doorframe, or a cracked wardrobe panel from a rushed carry costs more to fix than the difference in hourly rate.
Transparent pricing is what keeps costs predictable
You know the rate. You know the minimum. You know what adds to it. You can budget accurately before the day. That predictability is what makes a move genuinely affordable — not just a cheap sticker price that grows into something else by the end.
Our movers are professional — always
We do not send whoever is available on the day. Every job is staffed by experienced movers who handle furniture correctly, work efficiently, and communicate clearly. Slower, careless movers cost more hours on the clock — a faster, competent team is a cheaper outcome even at a higher hourly rate.
Affordable Removalists Sydney — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest removalist option in Sydney?
The most cost-effective move in Sydney depends on the job. For a small apartment, a weekday booking with two movers and the minimum booking typically runs between $374 and $525 all in. For a 2-bedroom apartment, expect $600–$900. Larger homes vary more. We give honest estimates — not artificially low numbers to win the booking.
Why do some removalists quote cheaper than $68 + GST per half hour?
Some operators quote lower base rates and recover margin through add-on fees during the job — stairs, long carry, travel time billed differently, equipment hire. Others cut costs on insurance, equipment quality, or crew experience. The total invoice is what matters — not the headline rate. Our $68 + GST per half hour is the full rate; what you see is what you pay, with GST added to your total.
Can I reduce the cost by doing some of the work myself?
Yes. Packing your own boxes, disassembling flat-pack furniture before we arrive, and being fully ready on move day all reduce the hours charged. If you can move smaller items in your own car, the truck only carries furniture and heavy items — which is faster and cheaper.
Is weekend more expensive?
Yes — weekend and Saturday moves are from $78 + GST per half hour. If your schedule allows a weekday move, it’s the most cost-effective option. End-of-month Saturdays are the busiest and most expensive time to move in Sydney.
Do you charge for the truck separately?
No. The truck is included in the hourly rate. We do not separately charge for equipment, fuel levies, or vehicle hire.
What is the minimum I will pay?
The minimum billing is 2 hours plus a 30-minute travel call-out at your applicable rate. For a standard weekday move, that is 5 half hours × $68 = $340 + GST. This is the floor — no move costs less regardless of how fast it finishes.
Can I get a fixed price rather than hourly?
Local moves are billed per half hour because the actual time depends on access, building conditions, and the volume of items — factors that vary even with an accurate inventory. Interstate moves are fixed price. For local moves, we give you a realistic hourly estimate range so you can budget accurately.
Do you offer any discounts?
We do not offer percentage discounts or deals — our pricing is already set at a straightforward, fair rate. The best way to keep costs down is to move on a weekday, be fully packed before we arrive, and book with accurate information so nothing unexpected adds time on the day.
